In men's and boy’s lacrosse, kicking a lacrosse ball is legal in all variations, while in women’s and girl’s lacrosse, kicking the ball is not legal until at least u12 girl’s lacrosse. The most common way players use this tactic in men's lacrosse and women’s is to kick the ball out of traffic to create open space for an easy ground ball.


Can you kick the ball in lacrosse to score a goal?


Yes, in Men's and Women's lacrosse, you are allowed to kick the lacrosse ball into the goal. A Lacrosse Shot is a lacrosse ball leaving youth lacrosse stick but kicking a ball is a legal way to score a goal.


If a defense player kicks the ball in their own goal, does it count?


Yes, for both Men's and Women's Lacrosse, if a defensive player accidentally kicks the ball in their own goal, it will count. So be careful when you’re around your own net and you’re thinking of punting the ball away.


What if I kick a defenders lacrosse stick and I score?


Unfortunately, if you do have an opportunity to kick the lacrosse ball into the goal and in the process you kick the defender's lacrosse stick, it can be considered illegal. Any kicking of the crosse in men’s, women’s, boy’s, or girl’s lacrosse is illegal.
