The ball is getting brighter in men's lacrosse, and Signature is ready for it. We're officially adding Hyper Yellow to our Premium NOCSAE lacrosse ball lineup, giving players, coaches and programs a new high-visibility option built for sanctioned play.
The first Signature Premium Hyper Yellow lacrosse balls will begin shipping by November 15, 2026.
If you know this color as Optic Yellow, you're talking about the same general high-visibility category. Signature has always used the name Hyper Yellow, and that's the name you'll see on our site.
Why Lacrosse Is Moving Toward High-Visibility Balls
The move toward fluorescent lacrosse balls is no longer limited to professional lacrosse or televised games. In July 2026, the NCAA approved a change to the standard game ball color for men's lacrosse across Divisions I, II and III. Fluorescent green or yellow balls are recommended for the 2026-27 academic year and become the standard requirement for the 2027-28 academic year.
The rationale behind the change is visibility. A brighter ball is easier for players, officials, spectators and television audiences to track as the game moves at full speed. The Premier Lacrosse League has played with a high-visibility yellow ball for years, and women's lacrosse has used a yellow or orange ball since the start of the modern college game. The men's college game is catching up, and that shift matters for every program that wants to practice with the ball they'll see in competition.
Introducing Signature Hyper Yellow
We've used the term Hyper Yellow for our high-visibility color for years. Other parts of the lacrosse market commonly use the term Optic Yellow, so you may see players searching for both Hyper Yellow lacrosse balls and Optic Yellow lacrosse balls. Our new ball answers both searches without changing what matters most: it's still a Signature Premium lacrosse ball.
The Hyper Yellow version is SEI certified to meet NOCSAE standards and built for sanctioned lacrosse play. It features the same Signature Premium construction and TOUGH GRIP™ technology found throughout our Premium ball line. The only difference is a bright, highly visible color arriving at exactly the right time.
Hyper Yellow vs. Optic Yellow: What's the Difference?
For most players and coaches, these terms describe the same general category of fluorescent, high-visibility yellow lacrosse ball. Signature calls the color Hyper Yellow, and you may see similar high-visibility balls marketed as Optic Yellow. If the NCAA rule change sent you searching for Optic Yellow NOCSAE lacrosse balls, Signature Hyper Yellow is our answer.
One important distinction applies to certification terminology. NOCSAE establishes equipment performance standards, while third-party certification is performed by SEI. Signature Premium Hyper Yellow balls are SEI certified to meet the applicable NOCSAE lacrosse ball standard.
Why We're Launching Hyper Yellow Now
The move toward fluorescent game balls creates an immediate need for programs that want to start practicing and playing with the type of ball they'll increasingly see at higher levels of competition. We wanted Signature programs to have that choice without leaving the Premium line they already use.
For college programs preparing for the rule transition, timing matters. Teams can introduce fluorescent balls into practice now, before they become the required NCAA standard game ball in 2027-28. For youth and high school players, Hyper Yellow offers a highly visible option for training, shooting, passing and everyday team use, subject to the rules governing each competition.
When Will Signature Hyper Yellow Lacrosse Balls Ship?

They'll be available alongside our existing Premium ball colors and in team-friendly quantities, so coaches, program directors, facilities and players searching for Hyper Yellow or Optic Yellow NOCSAE lacrosse balls will have a Signature option ready to go.
